The Exhibition "The Society of Russian Watercolorists. At the Road Beginning" will open in Moscow

From April 12 to June 15, 2014, at the School of watercolors of Sergey Andriyaka in Moscow the exhibition of works by founders of the "The Society of Russian Watercolorists" from the collections of ten leading museums and archives of Moscow and St. Petersburg will take place.

Among the founders one may see Albert N. Benois, L.O. Premazzi, S.F. Alexandrovsky, A.P. Sokolov, A.K. Beggrov, N.N. Karazin.

The large-scale exhibition will present known, rare and first published pictures of the greatest watercolor artists of the XIX-XX centuries’ boundary as well as documents and photographs related to the history of the emergence of "The Society of Russian Watercolorists".

The project "The Society of Russian Watercolorists. At the Road Beginning"has brought together various graphic works by the Society founders from the collections of the State Hermitage Museum, the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin, the State Museum-reserve "Peterhof", the State Historical Museum, the Central Naval Museum, the State Museum of A.S. Pushkin, the Museum of V.A. Tropinin and Moscow artists of his time, the State Archive of Russian Federation (GA RF), Russian State Archive of Literature and Art (RGALI) as well as from private collection of A.G. Egorov.

The exhibition features magnificent architectural graphics by L.O. Premazzi, landscape sketches by Albert Benois, pencil drawings and portraits graphics by S.F. Alexandrovsky, genre sketches, including sketches of the famous deck of playing cards by N.N. Karazin, sea grisaille by one of the largest marine painters A.K. Beggrov, beautiful female portraits by Acting member of the Academy of Fine Arts A.P. Sokolov, in particular, "The Portrait of Countess V.N. Bobrinskaya, born Lvova” of 1889, presented to the public for the first time.
